Each October, National Pedestrian Safety Month draws attention to the issue of pedestrian safety and urges transportation agencies and stakeholders to create a transportation system that allows all people to safely and easily walk. In honor of National Pedestrian Safety Month, join the CDOT Library and author Robert Searns as he reads and presents his book Beyond Greenways: The Next Step for City Trails and Walking Routes on Oct. 25!
In Beyond Greenways, Searns makes the case for high-quality, readily accessible pedestrian infrastructure in and around urban areas. Participants will get an introduction to Searns’ ideas for creating accessible walking infrastructure that serves a diverse array of people. Planners, landscape architects, community leaders and engineers will find the tools they need to develop successful and affordable plans, including how to envision them to fit various settings and strategies for implementation. Now is the time to think beyond greenways, to pursue a legacy of accessible pedestrian routes for this, and future, generations.
